Hi I'm Dev 👋 You know me as the micro PE guy

Yo

My name is Dev Shah. I’m a 22 year old from Mumbai going to college at Claremont, California. I’ve always wanted to do my own thing. It’s never really been a choice for me, I just wanted to run my own business. I got started with my first business straight out of high school. My best friend and I started a college consulting business in the middle of the Covid lockdown. (This was a transformative experience, as we really had to get into the weeds of creating our offer, bring leads in and converting them.) This business gave me a lot of understanding. I made my first $ online, first mistakes, helped 20+ students, made my first $10,000 online. After 2 years we shut the business down, we took too many students on and working with Indian parents was difficult. I was quite burnt out and didn’t like how the business I had started turned into something that took so much out of me.

2022

I took a gap semester from college and did 5 months backpacking in Europe. That was pretty cool and gave me a lot of perspective on what I really cared about It was around this time I discovered acquire.com. I very quickly fell in love with the idea of buying and selling businesses. Going on acquire.com for me was like taking a kid to a candy shop. I was so excited by the different types of businesses. There were so many ways of making money that I never would have thought of.

2023

I began my journey posting on X/ Twitter: businesses for sale that I found interesting. Through one of these posts I made my first acquisition. Sourcely AI is a B2C micro saas for students. We acquired it at $500 Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) for $4,000.

2024

Sourcely now makes $60,000 annually, running at 80%+ profit margins and requires minimal work. I’ve used the cashflows to acquire 5 micro startups in the last 12 months. 2 micro SaaS, 2 newsletters, 1 tik tok page, 1 WhatsApp AI bot. Each bought for <$10,000. Each at acquisition were generating revenue, had 1,000s of users, profitable, some kind of product market fit and were acquired at 0.5-1.5x annual revenue multiple. I plan on buying 1 business every 1-3 months and expanding my holding company. There’s the Codie Sanchezs and PE buying businesses but I couldn’t find many others buying small digital businesses at <$100k. So I decided to start a community for others like me and give them the resources I wish I had when starting out.

I have a lot of fun buying businesses and I  want to help others buy a business.
